SINGLE(mom)HOPE Daily Devotional

Day Five
Talk Him Up!

Celebrating one another is one of the best things you can do for your children. Celebrating the small achievements and the big successes is important. As important as celebrating the accomplishments is, there is one thing that is vital to the health of your home life and your soul, celebrating all the different ways God is showing up in your life. I remember a time during my second year as a single mom when my daughter wanted a particular style of shoes. Money was tight and purchasing the shoes was not an option. Later that week, she was invited by her friend to go to a yard sale. When she returned, I had one very excited girl! She found the stylish shoes that she had wanted to have and they were just her size. Even the Creator of the universe cares about middle school girls and stylish shoes. We celebrated!

I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all… Psalm 89:1

Making known God’s faithfulness out loud is powerful. Your children hearing you praising the Lord for all the different things can be life changing. It is easy to express our frustrations. It can be easy to complain. When you choose to daily give thanks for His faithfulness and outwardly be grateful the heartbeat of your home will be affected. When it is difficult to know exactly what God’s will and plan is for you and your sweet babies, you can rest in I Thessalonians 5:18 –

in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

Talking with your children about the different ways God shows His faithfulness to each of you is so important. It affects perspective. It gives hope. It shines light into your soul. How can you make daily celebrations of how God is showing up in your life and your children’s life?
