SINGLE(mom)HOPE Daily Devotional

Day Three
He Will…He Will Not

Wouldn’t it be nice to live in a world that is cut and dry? Living the single mom life is layered, complicated, and has rare times that are cut and dry. For several years before I became a single mom, I desired the cut and dry life. The marriage was in constant turmoil and the emotions, desires, hopes, and reality would collide and be messy. There are many layers to our life. Most of the time, it is messy rather than a neatly, wrapped package.

Then I found myself joining the tired and hopeful, stretched and beautiful women who are single moms. I also became more aware of my needs. I was overwhelmed with how badly I wanted to know one thing that could make all the difference. I constantly asked, “what do I do?” Maybe you find yourself asking the same question. You need a plan. You are looking for direction. You are leading your home and you need to succeed. These needs that are fueled by circumstances and feelings are real.

What God will do and will not do is real too. He has one plan and one purpose for your single mom life.

He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.
Psalms 121:3

He will not allow your foot to slip. He will keep you. He will not sleep. He is always watching over you. He knows your path. He knows every step you need to take toward healing and wholeness. He knows how to direct you. He will keep you and grip you with His perfect grip.

Sweet friend, you can walk in confidence on this broken path. You can walk with assurance knowing the Lord knows the way that you take. You can be strengthened with each step you take and experience, “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.” (Job 23:10)
